Just as with any other online chat room or message board, there are certain rules of etiquette, or one might say, netiquette, that you should follow. When you are in the chat rooms, the point is to have fun and make friends. That won’t happen if you are rude to others or give the chat moderator a hard time so take the time to learn the rules, both written and unwritten, before barging into a new room.
The first thing you need to remember is that the chat moderator is in charge of the room. Don’t argue with her when she says something. You can ask questions but don’t monopolize her the entire time with questions that could easily be answered elsewhere on the site – like the terms and conditions page. Don’t ever use all caps when you are in the chat rooms. Not only is it commonly considered to be yelling and quite rude, since the chat moderators often use all caps in order to be noticeable, it could be quite confusing to the other bingo roomies.
Be friendly with the other players and congratulate others when they win a game. Don’t spend twenty minutes griping about how close you came to winning and how much it sucks that you lost – this will just annoy everyone else in the room. Don’t ever sit in one site’s chat room and tell how wonderful another bingo site is. That is just plain tacky. At the same time, putting down the competitors is considered just as tacky so don’t do that either.
Most of this should be common sense but there are some who don’t realize the way things are done in chat rooms. Just remember to go in with a good attitude and be friendly. Participate in any chat room games that are played. This is a good way to make new friends among your fellow bingo roomies.
